The Pappa Legba - My 2nd Wand in My Collection
I could go into a long drawn out thing here about this wand. What? You're interested you say? Well, I suppose since you're here anyway I'll go ahead and give you the full run down. This was made with some pretty powerful energy and I've put a lot into it now. The skull was something I was working on during the time of my Mother's passing in 2016 and has its own separate tale. I started it with a Dremel tool and a semi-square piece of carving wood from Hobby Lobby. I had come to stay with Mom and Dad and help with Mom's passing. It came to a choice of going to a nursing home or taking her home and caring for her there as she passed. She wanted to come home. I had started working on the skull before I came down to stay with them, and I brought it along and worked on it in the basement when I wasn't needed upstairs. I worked on it quite a bit during the week that I was there whenever I was able I would break away and just work on it. It has lots of masonic symbols scrawled into it with a burner. I just pretty much put every one I could think of in places that I thought that fit and looked good.
I found this stick in a fence row shortly after we moved to our current home on Buck Mountain with me my Wife our Son. During this time our family cat Strange got very sick and we took him to the vet and found out that he was dying. We gave him a steroid shot that gave us a little more time with him and took him home and made him feel as comfortable as we could. The day I finished this wand was the day we buried him.
So as I started out with the stick I was thinking - hey I can sell this on Etsy! But then when I decided to add the skull I pretty much was not going to sell it at that point. I made the first layer of the handle with paracord. There is probably about 10+ ft of it in that initial wrap - I then used a round leather that I got from Hobby Lobby for a second layer and a flat leather on top of that. The leather is crisscrossed for better grip. I tied the skull in with hemp string - and added the beads also on hemp string. I sprayed several coats of acrylic high gloss sealer on the whole thing before the final handle wraps.
